Exclude viewers, inactive accounts, occasional hobby use, enterprise deployments and creators with no recurring multistreaming need. Count one independent buying operation; channel counts are only a proxy.
Why not add YouTube, Kick and the whole creator economy?
The Q1 2026 industry report tracks 1.07m YouTube Gaming channels and 766,495 Kick channels. Those quarterly counts overlap with Twitch and do not cover all YouTube Live. We do not add them. YouTube's 30% Live-viewer statistic describes audience behaviour, not creators.
TwitchTracker estimates 6.73m active channels in August. Different periods and long-tail coverage explain why broad totals differ; we use one provider and one matched month for sizing. Neither source is a buyer census.

Interview shows often need guests and isolated recordings; community teams need volunteer roles and different destinations; mobile-first creators need a different capture workflow. How to read this model
TAM is scoped to qualified independent Twitch + YouTube encoder workflows globally. SAM uses the separately observed English-language subset of the same workflow, matching today's onboarding and support. SOM is acquired and retained customers over time. None is the value of the creator economy or platform advertising.
Annual account revenue = 12 × [(hours × 60 × streaming rate) + (hours × 3,600 × Mbps ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000 × destinations × GB rate)]. A monthly bill below £5 is waived. Rates are a dated snapshot; spend is streaming-only, before tax, with no assumed extra clipping revenue. Rates, scenarios and source records share one maintained model.
Qualification scenarios vary from 5% to 20% jointly, rather than pretending correlated attributes are independent. Consumption varies from 20 to 60 hours monthly. Holding usage at the working case, halving the qualified share halves the market. There is no representative purchase-intent survey behind those bounds.
July was the latest matched global/language cohort verified during research. Channels are imperfect proxies for buying operations; repeat months and overlapping platforms are not added. We have no defensible UK creator census, deduplicated all-platform population or observed acquisition/retention cohort. Those are open evidence gaps, not hidden precision.
